    1. You are a unique person. You have a whole personality that is your own along with strengths and skills. Our mental disorders are most often caused by some trauma or abuse that happened to us at some point….often ongoing emotional abuse. Organic changes happen in the brain to adapt.
      You are not your mental illness. It is something that happened to you or was forced onto you.
