JusJoJan Linda Gill’s Writing Fun !

This is for the JusJoJan writing prompt from Linda Gill’s Blog. You can see more about this writing prompt challenge HERE. The rules are very reasonable and allow for your personal freedom of creativity to flow, so go over and check out the rules and give it a try !

Writing prompt ONENESS

Oneness is a funny word because it looks wrong, when I see it spelled right in front of me. If you look at it in a different way, you can see O NEN ESS …as opposed to ONE NESS.

Or you might even see ON EN ESS, which is entirely different altogether. But now we are just being a bit silly.

Personally, I like the sound of words that end in “ESS” because they sound so feminine and pretty.

For a master list of words ending in “ess” see this link HERE.  This is from the Word Info web site.

Some of my favorite “ess” words are countess. duchess, mistress, and enchantress and sorceress.

According to the Word Info site,  these particular words came from the French language. The Word Info site says that they got this information from The Barnhart Dictionary of Etymology, Robert K. Barnhart.

Being a poet and a musician / songwriter myself,  I find certain words more appealing that other ones.

Some words sound more musical than others. Of course that depends on the kind of music you are writing. Other words fit better into poetry…again depending on the mood and style of what you are writing.

Words for songs, need to sound the way you want them to, and also fit into the rhythm of the song. Poetry also has a rhythm to it. Certain styles have strict rhythms and other are more flexible, or can alternate rhythmic patterns.

Music is listened to, so the way the words appear on a page is not as important.

Poetry however, is often read from the page, so the appearance of the words and how they create the shape of the poem, can be important.

I sometimes choose certain words because I like the way they make the poem look, in addition to the way it sounds, when the words are flowing off the tongue.

To me the word ONENESS looks like it is spelled wrong.

However, I did actually use this word in a poem I wrote quite awhile ago.

I will copy and paste the poem at the bottom of this post. Since I had already written a poem with this theme, I did not choose to write another one for this post.

The concept of ONENESS offers all kinds of possibilities to write about. You could have many people given that same concept to write about, and you would get just as many points of view and perspectives about oneness.

But only one of us wrote about how the word looks on the page….just because she just had to be different !

The Oneness of All

Why do they tell me
Who they think I should be?
I know who I am
I’m Annie
That’s me
I know what I like and I
know what I don’t
 Sounds
of the ocean
 Smell
of the grass
 Taste of sweet kisses
Touch of a hand
Two spirits connecting
Compassion
and love
Priorities
In the right place
Where they go
True hearts when they break
Tears when they flow
These things are important
I know it is so
So don’t try
to woo me
With gossip
and shame
Manipulation, by trying
to make me feel
less than sane
The truth
is quite plain
Mundane conversation
Just bores me to death
I am drawn
 to the people
With truth on their breath
I speak what I feel
And I speak what I know
Humanity’s oneness
Should be
the first goal
Love unconditional
Mercy and grace
If you look
in your hearts
You will see
a natural trace
Of truth
as it is
And truth
that is all
What matters
forever
The oneness
of all
No one deserves less
No one should feel invisible
We were born with a wholeness
And propensity to dream
For what you can imagine
is an endless stream
You can create your own life
and You Matter
It’s true
The feelings you feel
Are telling
something to you

My Funny Bunny – Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Sometimes I have to pause while I am in the middle of being busy, doing things in the house. I hear some little paws and wonder what they are up to. I wonder if that bunny of mine is ok.

So, I take a peak and see he is sitting comfortably in his cage. I go back to work in the house and set about my business. In a minute  I hear a bell ring. Then in a few seconds I hear that bell ring again.

It is the bunny ringing his bell to get my attention. I got him this bell a year ago. I remembered that a bunny I had long ago used to ring a bell when he was ready to come inside from playing in the fenced in yard.

So I got this bunny a bell. It was in the bird section of Pet Smart. I attached it to the top of the cage. He can reach it with his little nose and ring. He knows very well now, that I come when he rings.

You might say that he has conditioned me similar to Pavlov’s dog….or is he the one who is conditioned? Actually I think we are both conditioned. He knows to ring the bell when he is hungry and I know to jump when he calls.

But the funny thing is that sometimes I answer the ringing. put food in the cage, get him all settled, and then he rings.

He is not ringing for food. He is not hurt.

If I ignore this type of ring, he will get very frantic in his ringing, the longer I do not come. Until he is banging the bell with his little nose, back and forth.

So what is he ringing for?

When I get there, I open the cage. He sticks out his head and brushes against my hand. He tucks his little head into the palm of my hand and stays there.

He is calling for love.

January 2 Pause / Paws Writing Challenge HERE

The above  writing is for the Stream of Consciousness Saturday challenge. You can see more information about this HERE at the Linda G. Gill blog

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing, (typos can be fixed) and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.
2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.
3. There will be a prompt every week. I will post the prompt here on my blog on Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The’,” or simply a single word to get your started.
4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top.
5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read everyone’s! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later, or go to the previous week, by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find right below the “Like” button on my post.
6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!
7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.
8. Have fun!

Flash Fiction Writing Prompt #16

This writing is for the Flash Fiction challenge from The Secret Keeper  blog. You can see the details of the challenge HERE.   The five words that had to be included in the writing are | COMFORT | HEAD | SPACE | MELT | WICKED |

Faith Versus the Facts

A decision had to be made as to whether to accept his words as the truth, or to confront him with the facts. She had always taken comfort in his honesty and openness with her.

She gazed into his eyes as he talked, but in her head she was playing out the events of the last few hours before she met him at the restaurant. As he reached over and touched her hand, she remembered how this used to make her heart melt.

The evidence said that he was lying to her right now. The female voice on the phone….the airline tickets….

She knew if she accepted what the facts pointed to that she would also have to question all of the other times he told her he was going away on business.

If he were lying to her now, while looking into her eyes, then it would mean that he was not the person he portrayed to her. It would mean he had a more sinister and wicked nature than she had ever considered.

If she were to accept the facts, then she would be forced to re-write her entire reality,  for entire time they had been together.

There was no space in between his words, as his continuous talking continued. It was almost as if he was doing this intentionally. So she took another sip of her wine to dull her senses. Then, rather than going over the facts as they were, she began to mentally re-write them and the meaning behind them.

It was less painful to re-frame the facts to fit what she wanted to believe, than to have to change her belief to fit the facts.

Interview Questions and My Answers

How did you get into blogging? I kind of stumbled upon it by accident. I knew nothing about it. I was reading something a friend sent me and I noticed it was a WordPress blog. I went over to see what WordPress was all about just out of curiosity.
What advice would you give to a blogger just starting out? Be yourself and write about what is meaningful to you personally.
What would be your dream campaign? Something to support victims of domestic violence and abuse
Do you have a plan for your blog? I take it day by day.
What do you think about rankings? I never pay attention to them. I actually don’t even know where to access that information

A quote a Day for Three Days…Today a quote of my own

They say that if you keep a tiny candle lit in a car that is broken down and lost in below zero temperatures that it will save your life and keep you from freezing to death.

I say that if that tiny flicker of light can save your life in a life-threatening emergency, then that same tiny flicker of light within your soul can save you during times when everything seems dark and hopeless.

Always keep that small candle burning and believe in its power to sustain you.

Blessings for peace of mind,

As always,

Allergic to E Challenge

Warmth from your lips,  touching my skin,  lost its illumination. Black from your soul brings sorrow and ill thoughts. What did call out my passion so long ago, now only calls out my horror. For your spirit is distrusting  as it asks for blind, utter submission.

This is my “Has no E” paragraph. This challenge was passed to me from Original  Dante.

Here are the rules.

The rules:

  1. Write a whole paragraph.
  2. Without any word containing the letter “e”.
  3. Challenge at least five bloggers to do the challenge.

Here are my victims.
